Penuche
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup milk or cream
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Stir sugar and milk until it boils.
- Cook without stirring until reaches 235 degrees (forms a soft ball when dropped into water).
- Remove from heat, add butter and let stand in pan of water until cool.
- Add vanilla and beat until creamy.
- Stir in nuts and pour into buttered pans.
- Mark into squares.
