Caramel Cookies
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 beaten eggs
- 3 1/2 cups flour or more ((see Gramma’s notes))
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- Combine butter and sugar.
- Add eggs and vanilla to combine.
- Stir in dry ingredients and adjust flour amount until dough-like. Gramma’s notes read “from 1 1/4 cup to 1 1/2 cup more”
- Roll into a cylinder and chill in plastic wrap or wax paper, at least an hour.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- Slice thin and bake 6 to 8 minutes.
